Team advances in competition
On Thursday, August 31 the Victorian Schools Cycling Goldfields Division were held at the Huntly Livestock Exchange.
BSE was well represented by 30 students across all age groups and divisions. For our first-time novice riders it was a great opportunity to try a different sport.
Our first-time competitors all did a great job and really enjoyed the experience. For the racing cyclists among the group, it was another opportunity to perform against quality opposition.
All of the BSE students competed well and we had pleasing results. Jamie Coles won the U13 novice section but was unfortunately relegated due to a technical issue. His performance was excellent and the result does not affect his selection to the state final. BSE was the most prominent school in all divisions and had some great results:
U15 Male Novice 1st Ruben Da Silva Smith 2nd Liam Morse McNabb
U15 Female Novice 2nd Lucy Harrison 3rd Ella Noble
U15 Racing 3rd Cody Torrington
U15 Female Racing 3rd Aimee Griffiths
U17 Male Novice 2nd Wil McCaig
U17 Female Novice 2nd Greta Schaeche
Most of our students will progress to the state final of the Vic Schools Cycling to be held Sunday, October 2 in central Bendigo. A big thank you to David Leske, David Meade and John Flood for their assistance and expertise on the day. The conduct shown from all BSE student representatives was excellent, says coach Rik McCaig.
