Liv scores vocal role
My name is Olivia (Liv) Brereton and I am a 15-year-old, Year 10 student at BSE College.
In the Victorian State Schools Spectacular I was absolutely honoured to receive a role in the principal cast, specifically ensemble vocals.
Being in the show is a huge commitment, especially because the show is solely based in Melbourne. For rehearsals, I have to travel by train to Melbourne each Saturday and rehearsing usually all day, sometimes Sundays as well.
There is also quite a big commitment during production week in September; I have to attend an entire week of rehearsals at Hisense Arena doing sound checks and full dress rehearsals so the cast is fully prepared for the morning and afternoon shows on September 16.
I applied to be in the spectacular again because of the thrill I got from doing it last year, after being a backing vocalist and seeing how it all works, I just had to get myself up on the big stage. I was determined to find myself a place in the principal cast, so that’s what I strived to achieve. When I go to university I want to get my musical theatre degree at a big school somewhere in the city, such as the Victorian College of the Arts or the Australian Institute of Music.
